Sesame Workshop India employs a multi-faceted approach to strengthen Foundational Literacy & Numeracy in early childhood through engaging media, technology, and educational programs grounded in research and play-based learning.

Since 2006, Sesame Workshop India’s initiatives have focused on reaching children and equipping them with the necessary skills and confidence. Their core values emphasize creative and playful approaches to reimagine early childhood education.

Focus on Prevention Rather than Intervention

With funding from Abbott, Sesame Workshop has launched Healthy Bodies Healthy Minds, a multi-country initiative including in India. It adopts a holistic well-being and preventative approach to raise awareness on the importance of balanced nutrition, quality sleep and physical activity among children and key influencers in their life.  

Developing Ed-Tech Resources like the Chalo! Sesame Street app, aims to bridge learning gaps by providing access to quality education through interactive, play-based learning, especially in areas with limited resources and connectivity issues. It nurtures early literacy, numeracy, life skills, and social-emotional learning using beloved characters and engaging stories and songs. The app is built on Sesame Workshop’s research-backed learning approach to ensure children get a strong start in life. 

Implementing the “Learn, Play, Grow” initiative, which aims to empower the early childhood education ecosystem across different states in India to create joyful learning experiences that build strong foundations for lifelong learning. Designed for children aged 3-8 and incorporates foundational literacy and numeracy skills, alongside other crucial areas like emotional well-being, health, nutrition, WASH, and school readiness.
